I found the discussion with Dr Clauw re lifestyle changes very informative but was surprised he spoke so favourably about eating meat. Personally, 3 months after starting an anti inflammatory diet, I am doing better physically and mentally. But thank you for this podcast, I have ordered your book and look forward to learning more. Any way I can help myself….I’m in!!

Q: What were the key findings of the Boulder back pain study?
The study found substantial reductions in pain intensity and many participants reporting being pain-free after nine sessions of PRT, along with brain changes indicating reduced threat processing, with lasting benefits observed at five-year follow-up.
Episode 60 | Dr. Yoni K. Ashar, PhD – PAIN REPROCESSING THERAPY - RETHINKING CHRONIC PAIN
Q: What are the four components of PRT?
PRT comprises pain education, somatic work to reframe bodily sensations, behavioral reengagement in feared activities, and emotional work to address emotional contributors to pain.
Episode 60 | Dr. Yoni K. Ashar, PhD – PAIN REPROCESSING THERAPY - RETHINKING CHRONIC PAIN
Q: What is the basic neuroscience behind PRT and nociplastic pain?
PRT targets pain that is driven by the brain's processing rather than ongoing tissue damage, treating nociplastic pain as a learnable brain pattern that can be unlearned through education, somatic work, exposure to feared activities, and emotional processing.
