  • Validation

As an adoptive mom to 7 this podcast is exactly what I needed to stumble upon. I’ve just been listening through all the past episodes. We’re in a hard season as a family and I really struggle in our small community to feel as though we belong sometimes. It’s nice to hear my husband and I’s feelings and worries are validated and there is an entire community just like us.

A Gospel Centered Look at Foster Care and Adoption
Q: What does fostering to adopt look like in practical terms?
Jamie explains there are several paths: traditional foster care with potential adoption, foster-to-adopt where termination of parental rights is anticipated, and waiting-children who are already legally waiting for forever homes. She emphasizes clear expectations, learning the process, and being open to how cases can evolve toward permanency.
Encouragement for the Waiting Adoptive Parent
Q: What advice would you give to waiting parents who feel isolated in their struggle?
Find community with others on a similar path, lean on the strength of those around you, and continually remind your children of their worth and the miracles they represent in your family.
Encouragement for the Waiting Adoptive Parent
Q: How has writing the book You Are My Miracle influenced your perspective on waiting and fulfillment?
Writing the book helped articulate the journey from longing to fulfillment, illustrating how stories across the globe connect to a common miracle of answered prayers, and reinforced the idea that God writes each family's story with sovereignty and love.
Encouragement for the Waiting Adoptive Parent
Q: What was your experience during the long wait for children and how did you stay hopeful?
The guest describes a gradual shift from denial and fear to active engagement with deeper emotions, leaning on God, and seeking community to support the journey, while continuing to hope despite repeated disappointments.
Figuring Out What Really Matters in Adoption & Fostering
Q: How can we adjust our perspective and respond well to untimely delays in foster and adoptive parenting?
Cynthia emphasizes stepping back to assess what truly matters for eternity, recognizing that delays are chances to show love and patience, and asking God what He wants us to learn from the situation.
