  • Lights my inner jack-o’-lantern

I love this show. I have always been a Halloween lover but listening to this had me understanding all the reasons why, and hearing how other people fell in love with the holiday brings me so much joy. Especially when the world can be chaotic, we need something like this that’s lots of fun and gives us permission to be our full weird selves!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#86 - Ellen Gee | Autumn Brilliance Magazine
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory of Halloween that stands out now?
There were many, but a standout was a Halloween where I played with props and costumes wild enough to feel like I was stepping into a story; the experiences were more vivid and formative than any store-bought costume could be.
#83 - Sean Keller
Q: You just talked about The Killer Sounds of Halloween and its sequels—how did that idea first come about?
It started from a love of Halloween music and a desire to create a 'haunted country' concept, then expanded into a mixtape-like album with imaginary bands and period-specific production to feel archival and authentic.
#79 - Claire Dunlap
Q: What is Spooky Swap Meet and how did the idea come together?
Spooky Swap Meet is a halfway-to-Halloween celebration at Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles, conceived as a big garage-sale style gathering for Halloween items, which evolved into a full-fledged event with vendors and experiences after being sparked during the pandemic.
#78 - John Brhel | Spooky Shake Studios
Q: Is that where you grew up? And if so, what was Halloween like there when you were growing up?
He describes growing up in upstate New York with a magical, crisp Halloween atmosphere, traditional costumes, and neighborhood trick-or-treating that shaped his love for the season.
#77 - Julia Halina Hadas | Witchcraft Cocktails
Q: How does the aesthetic of drinks impact their magic?
The visual representation and garnishes create a multi-sensory experience that invites intention and enhances the magic of the drink.
