  • VCD got me in and I'm staying

I was searching for any podcasts discussing VCD as someone who has both severe VCD and Asthma. I regularly share my story of overcoming the odds and surviving severe episodes simultaneously of both and also being part of the clinical trials at Monash for both botox injections into the vocal cord and for dupilimab (eosinophilia) as well as having been on mepo and now benza until dupi comes into the market here. I was impressed with the discussion, and as a patient to hear that other view which of... more

ATS Breathe Easy - How Much Is A Life Worth? Ask the EPA, Part 2
Q: If you had to explain to a non‑expert why removing the calculation isn't just an accounting change but a public health threat, what would you say?
It would shift the framework away from a structured cost‑benefit analysis toward a more open‑ended policy path, risking unbalanced decisions that ignore the health benefits of reducing pollution and the real costs borne by communities who face health risks and economic disruption.
ATS Breathe Easy - How Much Is A Life Worth? Ask the EPA, Part 1
Q: But the EPA has now set that essentially at zero. So, can you walk us through what the value of a statistical life actually means and what is it, what is it not?
It's a monetary proxy used to express the economic impact of lives lost due to pollution, not an exact price on life, and it helps compare health benefits against regulatory costs in a structured way.
ATS Breathe Easy - How Losing Immigrant Doctors Could Derail Public Health in the U.S.
Q: What proactively are you doing to prepare for a shortage of telemedicine and other care delivery methods?
Adopting a multi-pronged approach: expanding outreach nationwide, using digital medicine and telemedicine, and leveraging allied health professionals like physician assistants and nurse practitioners to fill gaps, especially in rural care.
ATS Breathe Easy - How Losing Immigrant Doctors Could Derail Public Health in the U.S.
Q: Do you anticipate that with some policy changes there will be fewer people from South Asia in your mentorship programs, and could that create a shortage of doctors?
Yes, the panel anticipates that visa changes will hinder filling needs in many specialties, especially in rural and underserved areas, leading to delays in patient care and increased strain on hospitals.
ATS Breathe Easy - Three Cheers for Mid-Career: Opportunities & Challenges in Career Growth, Part 1
Q: What do you believe defines mid-career in medicine?
Mid-career is a period of transition where traditional timelines don't fit everyone; it's about taking on leadership and mentorship roles while balancing personal life and long-term goals.
