  • The hosting is good, please improve the audio quality

Love the blue journal, the hosting is good, but the audio quality is unacceptably bad in 2025. It occasionally makes episodes completely unlistenable.

The Effectiveness of Isoniazid Preventive Treatment Among Contacts of Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis: A Systematic Review and Individual-Participant Meta-Analysis
Q: What additional evidence is needed to strengthen the recommendation for isoniazid preventive treatment?
Further mechanistic studies, including animal models, to understand direct versus indirect effects, and evaluation of scenarios where levofloxacin is not available, along with long-term protection data and standardized guidelines.
The Effectiveness of Isoniazid Preventive Treatment Among Contacts of Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis: A Systematic Review and Individual-Participant Meta-Analysis
Q: What are the potential explanations for the effect you saw?
Possible explanations include exposure to drug-susceptible TB outside the MDR exposure, heterogeneity in isoniaid resistance allowing partial activity, and potential host-directed immune effects; these may act in combination.
The Effectiveness of Isoniazid Preventive Treatment Among Contacts of Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis: A Systematic Review and Individual-Participant Meta-Analysis
Q: What were your primary findings?
Isoniazid preventive treatment was associated with a substantial reduction in incident TB among MDR-TB contacts, with a hazard ratio around 0.43 overall, stronger in children and in high-burden settings, and protection waning after two years.
The Effectiveness of Isoniazid Preventive Treatment Among Contacts of Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis: A Systematic Review and Individual-Participant Meta-Analysis
Q: Moving to your study now, what were your objectives?
To evaluate whether six months of isoniazid preventive treatment reduced the risk of incident TB among household contacts of people with MDR-TB, using a large global consortium and individual participant data to compare with no preventive treatment.
“Social Apnea”: Obstructive Sleep Apnea Is Exacerbated on Weekends
Q: What are the potential factors driving the weekend worsening of sleep apnea?
Possible drivers include increased alcohol consumption, social smoking on weekends, and reduced use of CPAP during weekends, along with circadian-related factors like weekend catch-up sleep and shifts in sleep midpoint.
