  • Great, informative

Highly recommend, after listening to two episodes. I am working on becoming a two-time survivor of bc, and I can tell you there is a ton of scary, misleading, and not-very-helpful information out there. This podcast has information that’s relevant to people with different types of bc and at different stages of treatment. It’s also current, which is important in this fast-moving field of health care. I have so many questions, but after listening to this podcast, I feel like I now have some good a... more

  • Disappointed

This women’s story was very moving and relatable. However, it said that it was going to discuss reconstruction. She had the Diep flap, which I’m leaning b toward, but trying to gather as much info as possible. Unless I missed something, it was never mentioned in the interview. So very disappointed!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Cooling and Compression to Prevent Neuropathy
Q: Where did cooling and compression start, and how have institutions implemented these practices in real-world settings?
Initial small studies suggested potential benefits from cooling and compression, leading to larger trials like the Ice Compress study; in practice, some institutions started using cryotherapy (cooling) due to lower risk and gradually standardized approaches as devices and protocols were developed.
Cooling and Compression to Prevent Neuropathy
Q: So how common is peripheral neuropathy among people with breast cancer or specifically among people who get chemo for breast cancer?
Neuropathy is very common with taxane chemotherapy and can vary with different drugs and risk factors; milder cases tend to improve after stopping treatment, while severe cases may persist or limit the ability to complete therapy.
Antibody May Stop Growth of TNBC Cells
Q: Could this therapy work in combination with immunotherapy?
Yes, the data suggest potential synergy, where reprogramming the tumor immune environment could make immunotherapies more effective or convert non-responders to responders.
Antibody May Stop Growth of TNBC Cells
Q: What are the next steps before clinical testing?
Manufacture clinical-grade material, perform safety/toxicity testing in line with FDA requirements, and initiate regulatory submissions to start a Phase I trial.
Antibody May Stop Growth of TNBC Cells
Q: How does the antibody to SFRP2 work, in broad terms?
The antibody binds SFRP2, blocking its interaction with the tumor vasculature and tumor cells, thereby inhibiting tumor growth and reactivating anti-tumor immune responses.
