  • Practical, clear, actionable Insights

I was particularly interested in the topic of book cover visuals. The episode I’ve listened to had easy to follow, relatable insights with clear suggestions I can apply. The sound quality is great as well (I listen x1.5 and still works well). Listened to a couple more episodes and found the content well prep’s and delivered. Now hit the “follow” button and know not all episodes will be relevant, but look forward to learning more on the topics that are. Nicely done, keep up the great work!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

AI and Copyright: What Every Author Needs to Know Before Publishing - BM529
Q: Who owns content produced with AI assistance?
Ownership depends on the writing being the author's own, with caveats that AI-generated text on its own isn't protectable; authors should ensure they retain rights to their own writing and be careful when AI is used to generate substantial portions of content.
AI and Copyright: What Every Author Needs to Know Before Publishing - BM529
Q: What are authors getting wrong when it comes to the legal side of using AI?
Authors often assume AI can fully write or protect their content; however, prompts and AI-generated text are not copyrightable, and authors should avoid letting AI replace original writing while using it for non-creative tasks like outline help or research.
How to Use Your Book to Build Authority and Charge What You’re Worth - BM528
Q: How do you talk to clients about pricing, especially when they need to start somewhere?
Focus first on what clients say about you, gather reviews and testimonials, and identify intangibles that show the unique value you provide. Then align pricing with the client's perceived value and the transformation they seek.
How to Position Your Book So AI Search Finds You First- BM526
Q: What do you notice first when you look at a book that most authors miss?
I'm a type nerd; I'm drawn to typography more than imagery, and I notice typography first, which often sets the tone for the entire book's readability and feel.
How to Overcome Perfectionism When Writing a Nonfiction Book - BM525
Q: You talk about why ready is a lie for non-fiction authors. What exactly do you mean?
The idea of being completely ready keeps people stuck; readiness should be a deliberate choice to begin, because real progress comes from taking action and shaping the book as you go, rather than waiting for perfect conditions.
