  • Game preview?

When listening to the game preview for Ohio all it was for the 1st 20 minutes was cussing, talking about press box seating, and baseball. I’ve tried listening to the podcast for a while, but have a tough time making it past all the cussing and stuff that has nothing to do with Iowa State. Maybe I will try again in the future as the host seems like a good guy, but I’d prefer the podcast be kept to only Iowa State and I feel like I’m not back in the military with all the vocabulary.

Getting to know your cyclones: An interview with Professor Tony Moton
Q: For you, how did you end up in Ames?
Tony explains his path from Omaha as a columnist, his move to Wartburg College, his stint at UCLA, and ultimately his return to Iowa State through a sports media opening, which aligned with his interest in developing new curriculum for the major.
Coaches Corner: Coach Scott Spinelli
Q: And I think, like, for you, like did you have, like the same motivation tactics for your entire roster or did you have to motivate players different ways?
He emphasizes that motivation should come from within each player, looking for passion for the game, accountability, and a love for basketball. He also discusses balancing positive coaching with accountability and adjusting approaches to individual players.
Coaches Corner: Coach Scott Spinelli
Q: Like, so usually, like in your career, like when you know the type of play style that you want to play, do you already have in mind like a roster, like on your coaching staff, like knowing where you want to recruit and the type of player that you want?
Spinelli explains that recruiting must be done in numbers with a structured primary recruiting list, while recognizing the importance of experience and the transfer portal. He notes that evaluating players goes beyond raw statistics and should consider how a player fits the system and role, using efficiency and fit over pure points per game.
