Have used this episode as gospel for both of my kids at different times (in desperation) and Cath has the most wonderful reassuring advice. Has been absolutely priceless to me and everyone I’ve ever shared it with. I just jumped on to search for it to send to another friend and thought I would review this show that’s given me so much help. Can’t recommend enough! All other episodes I’ve listened to have also been great.

Started listening to the “new Dad” string of podcasts from Birth, Baby and Beyond with Chris Taylor and had to stop 10 minutes in. Most unrelatable podcast I have heard about pregnancy/birth yet. If you represent the 1% of Australia as the guests on this podcast like Chris Taylor and Trent Cotchin do, this podcast would be great. For the rest of us who cannot afford unlimited time off to care for our child, nannys to look after kids, several holidays a year and for our spouses just not to work t... more

Midwife Cath’s sleep advice is as old as she is AKA neglect. Western society’s obsession with independence in babies is damaging. Studies show the increased cortisol levels in babies with any sort of (as Cath recommends) cry it out or controlled crying (she calls it passive settling… it’s called sleep training) and how it remains high for hours and hours.
