  • Superbly executed interviews every single time

I love how well the flow of the conversations are structured, very logical, natural, and intriguing at the same time. I can listen to the topics I may not be comfortable because Cal makes it all about “trying to understand” and “satisfying curiosity” not necessarily about drawing a conclusion. I’m amazed how he can sound empathetic yet objective simultaneously.

The Man Who Wanted to Live Forever . . . And The $3 AI That Might Let Him
Q: What's a memorable moment from your father that you'd want preserved in an AI version?
Moments like his storytelling cadence, humor about everyday life, and unique phrases—capturing not just facts but the way he spoke and connected with people—would be essential to preserve.
The Man Who Wanted to Live Forever . . . And The $3 AI That Might Let Him
Q: How do you think this could change grieving and remembrance?
It could provide comfort and a way to keep memories alive, especially through personal anecdotes and questions that generations can ask; however, it may also complicate the grieving process if it becomes a substitute for dealing with loss.
The Man Who Wanted to Live Forever . . . And The $3 AI That Might Let Him
Q: What was your reaction to the idea of digitally resurrecting a loved one's voice and stories for future generations?
There is a mix of fascination and caution; the potential to preserve memories and teach future generations is powerful, but trust, consent, and how the information is used must be carefully managed to avoid distortions or misuse.
He Could Be Golfing. Instead, He's Upgrading Your Brain.
Q: What are the potential societal impacts of AI-driven brain data integration?
The guest argues that rather than destroying work, AI will augment human productivity, enabling new industries and workflows; people will adapt by leveraging AI to create and be more productive, though some fear and disruption will occur during the transition.
He Could Be Golfing. Instead, He's Upgrading Your Brain.
Q: How could AI interact with a user during a task like a podcast or sports activity?
AI would monitor engagement and cognitive load, and guide the user by presenting information in a personalized way, potentially creating a seamless collaboration where the AI supports performance without distracting the human.
