  • Enriching content!

I’m a UX professional of over 15 years and I find this podcast SO helpful to me STILL in this stage of my career as it reaffirms some of the challenges I confront beyond screen design. New designers would help themselves greatly by listening to Jeremy and his all-star guests chop it up about important topics and be prepared for the arduous yet rewarding career or UX.

  • A UX podcast for the practitioner

Jeremy’s guests talk about the whole practice of UX and aren’t afraid to talk about the real work of UX. Difficult stakeholders, feeling undervalued in a business-first culture, advancing your career in a difficult market. Jeremy’s sense of humor keeps the episodes positive despite the sometimes heavy topics.

  • Nice show good sound quality

The only thing I am not sure about this show is that I really don’t understand the intro line ‘how is your mom and them’. I got no idea what this means but it is very odd for someone to mention my mom.

‘How are you.’ Is the kind of thing you say in a conversation. And even in conversations rarely anyone really care. In a podcast, doesn’t make sense to ask your audience how are you, let alone how is your mom…

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

You're Not the Center of the Corporate Universe with Andy Vitale
Q: How does a designer develop empathy for teams outside design, like product or engineering, on a day-to-day basis?
Understand that these teams are trying to bring viable solutions to life and often push back when the problem frame isn't clear; use asynchronous feedback and regular, proactive check-ins to triangulate needs and communicate outcomes in terms of business value and customer impact.
Yes, And... Now What? Improv Lessons for Navigating the Actual Job with Nikki Anderson
Q: How can improv techniques be applied to design critiques and reviews?
Treat critiques like play spaces with clear ground rules, rename critiques to reduce negativity, and start sessions with fun, low-stakes exercises to loosen tension and set a constructive feedback culture.
Yes, And... Now What? Improv Lessons for Navigating the Actual Job with Nikki Anderson
Q: Where do some places where UX professionals might be flailing, and how can improv help against that?
Improv helps by turning the default response from defense to curiosity, encouraging you to read the room, adjust in real time, and use structured play to stimulate collaborative problem solving rather than simply presenting findings.
Democratize Without Destroying: The Case for Research Charters with Ned Dwyer
Q: How should AI be integrated into the research workflow—what stays human, what can be automated?
They discuss when AI can moderate sessions, when human oversight is required, and the importance of guardrails and governance depending on context and risk.
Democratize Without Destroying: The Case for Research Charters with Ned Dwyer
Q: Why do you believe democratization matters and how should charters govern it?
He argues democratization as a spectrum, with charters providing guardrails to empower non-researchers while preserving safety and quality of insights.
