  • Not anymore

Used to be a great show. Now hidden behind a 7$/month paywall. The “free” shows are now 20 minutes long, including 8 minutes of ads and announcements to cconvert listeners into subscribers. Not worth it anymore.

Q: What practical steps can individuals take to integrate arts into daily life for health benefits?

Daisy Fancourt: Epidemiologist on how creativity rewrites your biology and extends your lifespan
Q: Why should arts be considered a pillar of health, and how does this compare to other health behaviors?
Arts engagement shows effect sizes comparable to, or stronger than, other health behaviors like physical activity and social interaction, justifying its inclusion as a fifth pillar of health alongside exercise, sleep, diet, and nature.
Fiona Crombie: Academy Award-nominated production designer on storytelling without words
Q: Could you walk us through the role and the type of work that you do as a production designer?
A production designer shapes everything visible in a frame that is not a costume, from landscapes and architecture to textures and objects, using the design process to tell the story visually and support performance.
George Newman: Cognitive scientist on why creativity is more like archaeology than magic
Q: Are there examples that you've seen of creative thinkers who have been successful with that?
Newman mentions that successful creative individuals across disciplines engage in routine processes and explore ideas over time, as illustrated by Jackson Pollock's drip paintings.
George Newman: Cognitive scientist on why creativity is more like archaeology than magic
Q: What do you mean by that? How is archeology and creativity related?
Newman explains that creativity can be understood as a form of discovery, where good ideas are unearthed rather than simply invented and presents a structured process akin to archaeology.
