  • Not anymore

Used to be a great show. Now hidden behind a 7$/month paywall. The “free” shows are now 20 minutes long, including 8 minutes of ads and announcements to cconvert listeners into subscribers. Not worth it anymore.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Etinosa Agbonlahor: Behavioral economist on why pricing belongs in the design process
Q: How should teams handle price communication with existing clients when raising prices?
Be explicit about the value delivered to date, outline what will change and when, and provide breathing room; start with new clients to establish the new rate and gradually rollout to existing relationships as comfort grows.
Etinosa Agbonlahor: Behavioral economist on why pricing belongs in the design process
Q: What strategies help freelancers transition from hourly to value-based pricing?
Define concrete outcomes and deliverables, estimate value in terms of business impact, present a few clear packages with flat pricing, and test reactions; avoid apologizing and communicate confidently about the value provided.
Etinosa Agbonlahor: Behavioral economist on why pricing belongs in the design process
Q: What is the four-step framework Decision Alpha uses for pricing?
Map monetization zones by talking to customers, understand elements of value and alternatives they'd use, then apply behavioral framing to decide on tiers, anchors, and presentation, finally test in market and iterate based on reactions.
Etinosa Agbonlahor: Behavioral economist on why pricing belongs in the design process
Q: How should teams begin pricing research when there is little to no reference point for a product or service?
Start with exploratory conversations to map monetization zones, understand what elements of value matter to customers, and identify what they'd be willing to pay for. Then compare against competitors and gather feedback to set an initial range before formalizing a price.
Paul Dichter: Stranger Things writer on why the writers’ room isn’t so different from the design studio
Q: What was it like in the writer's room for a show like Stranger Things?
The room was highly collaborative and lively, with six main writers who debated, pitched, and refined ideas, using the table as the hub for discussion, laughter, and problem-solving; decisions often came after sustained group discussion rather than solitary writing, and the process emphasized the importance of team dynamics and shared ownership.
