  • Please Fix Audio

Please fix the audio so that I can tolerate listening to your podcast. The intro music was the same level as other podcasts, but then I have to turn up the volume to hear the host. Then when the guest comes on their volume level is dynamic so sometimes I can’t hear them and sometimes it’s too loud. Maybe check out Freakonomics. They do a great job.

  • Love it BUT!!!!

I really enjoyed this episode and got a lot out of it BUT the way they speak about salary is INCREDIBLY privileged. Being able to look beyond salary is a privilege many folks do. Not. Have. Especially right now!!!

Many career switchers are likely uprooting their lives due not only to frustration but because they’re in pursuit of a better future for themselves. It does those who are careens switching a disservice to speak about salary in such abstract terms as if it’s something we’re “fixating ... more

  • On point

In the episode, “Sarah Doody, UX Researcher, Experience Designer, and Founder of the Career Strategy Lab, shares her thoughts on how UX professionals can design their ideal careers, whether they’re in the market for a new role or not.” She was so on point! Love it. I maybe a great communicator, but not always about myself!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

58. The Truth About Lean & Agile (Feat. Principal Experience Specialist, Laura Klein)
Q: Are MVPs still useful in modern product development, or can good user research replace them?
MVPs can be useful in certain contexts, especially when market or user understanding is uncertain; however, if you have strong qualitative insights, validated needs, and a clear path to value, you may not need a traditional MVP and can ship smaller iterations that address real user needs.
58. The Truth About Lean & Agile (Feat. Principal Experience Specialist, Laura Klein)
Q: What is a lean startup, and how does it differ from common misconceptions about lean being just 'cheap'?
Lean startup is rooted in learning quickly and validating hypotheses with data, not simply cutting costs; it emphasizes rapid feedback, experimentation, and a focus on what actually delivers value, with an understanding that you can learn and adapt as you go.
57. The Next Decade of UX: Why Psychology Matters More Than Ever (Feat. Thomas Watkins, Founder & Principal UX Architect at 3Leaf)
Q: What advice do you have for people who are new to UX or new to product design?
Lean into being human and provide valuable contributions amidst automation.
53. Why You're Not Getting Job Interviews (feat. Hang Xu, Design Recruiter)
Q: What can you say about ATS and the common challenges job seekers face?
ATS is often misunderstood; it functions as a filing cabinet for candidates, but if a resume isn't legible or properly formatted, it may be rejected immediately.
53. Why You're Not Getting Job Interviews (feat. Hang Xu, Design Recruiter)
Q: What are hiring managers and recruiters looking for that candidates may be missing?
Candidates often don't understand what hiring managers need, and they fail to tailor their applications accordingly, treating every application the same.
