With that said, the constant interruptions from the hosts, distractions from the sound effects tha... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin
Q: Can I ask about the conducting?
Yes, I was encouraged to look into conducting, and it happened fast, transitioning from arranging to conducting at the Marine Band.
Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin
Q: What did you enter in as a performer?
My primary instrument is French horn, but I entered as a staff arranger.
Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin
Q: Now, you're just the 29th Director of the United States Marine Band. I mean, in all history, what does that mean to you?
It's a little overwhelming. It means a great sense of responsibility to steward the band and its history, which goes back to 1798.
Jeff Ball
Q: If you had to give a 45-second sort of sales pitch for young teachers teaching in the New York City public school system, could you do it?
We need good music programs in New York City and we need more good teachers from all over the country, all ages, to come work with us. It's a great opportunity to build your dream program.
Josh Becker
Q: What do you think the key is to retention?
Meeting kids where they are, being positive, and fostering personal connections.
