This was a very well researched, thought out and presented pod cast. Thank you for speaking up and out on Domestic Violence and how our justice system needs to be held accountable.
This story was so compelling. It draws you in and you feel Niki’s pain. Her heart break and Fear. I couldn’t walk away until the end. The narrator did such an amazing job. The original attorneys judge and jury were entirely offensive and extremely ignorant.
No WOMEN who protected herself and her children from domestic abuse and violence should be imprisoned.
This is a fantastic podcast, and it has left me, by episode 4, SO angry and frustrated… the way only a true spotlight can…. on the injustice of human bias, ignorance in the legal system and how it affects gender. (And serious idiocy on the part of the jury members that were interviewed in my opinion)
Two things can be true- a person can be abused and they can murder their abuser. It wasn’t legally self defense but I can’t believe the prosecutor tried to paint her as some evil manipulator who spent years hurting herself to paint him as an abuser. It’s a sad case and I hope people watching will be careful when starting relationships. Believe them when people show you who they truly are- you can’t fix them. Prayers lifted for all involved.
The narrator is horrible. She believes one way and tells the story as if it is literally impossible for a jury to come to the conclusion they did.

A meticulous true-crime investigation that centers on domestic violence, survivor testimony, and the gray areas of the justice system. Through archival police audio, trial insights, and conversations with Nikki Addimando, the series probes how perception can diverge from reality, revealing how trauma, bias, and survival shape outcomes in high-stakes legal cases. Listeners can expect rigorous reporting, emotionally charged storytelling, and ongoing questions about accountability, empathy, and the criminalization of victims. A standout is the way it blends investigative journalism with personal narratives to challenge common assumptions about abuse, justice, and truth.
