  • Excellent!!

Over the past few years I have listened to and followed probably half a dozen wine related podcasts. I came across this Bedrock podcast because it was mentioned in the Fall Release email from Bedrock. So far, I have only listened to the episode with Mike Officer of Carlisle and the episode with Amy and Peter of Holus Bolus/The Joy Fantastic. Both were excellent - in fact - outstanding! We are members at Bedrock, so all of this insight is fascinating and elucidating. We are members at Carlisle -... more

  • Balanced infotainment

Chris and Morgan do a good job balancing educating listeners and selling their wine and wine of their friends. I find Morgan’s insight into California’s historic vineyards very interesting and I’ve sought out wine from not only Bedrock but from other winemakers like Carlisle (who should be on the podcast) to contrast vineyard character.

I think I speak for all of us listeners when I say we’re glad you didn’t go to law school Chris! Such a great show that takes the snobbery out of wine and also brings on some great guests with awesome stories.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

045 - 2023 Winter Release (Part 2)
Q: How can we make consumers understand that sustainable is not enough?
It's a tough one because the length of conversation about any of this stuff is the toughest point, as there's a lot of complexity about what's sustainable, organic, biodynamic, what regenerative means, and how this impacts the farmer economically.
045 - 2023 Winter Release (Part 2)
Q: What can we say about Oakville Farmhouse?
The biggest news is we now lease the vineyard and farm it.
046 - Macario Montoya
Q: Can you explain a little bit about what Chicano culture was and kind of what movement in the 60s and 70s your dad was a pretty important part of?
The term Chicano, Chicana, basically is a term for Mexican-American, usually sort of first generation Mexican-American, and they really weren't accepted by sort of anyone, if you will.
046 - Macario Montoya
Q: Can you talk about your dad a little bit? Just because I was just at his exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California.
My father is an art professor and a well-known Chicano studies professor and artist.
050 - Perennial Grazing
Q: How did you end up becoming the famous grazers in Northern California?
Christian shares that his background in Napa and experiences at Deep Springs College sparked his passion for grazing and farming, while Shannon adds her journey from Chicago to farming through alternative education and a desire to connect with the environment.
