  • Good and bad

It’s like 50/50. Half the episodes are interesting and informative the other half the male speaker is ranting about his alcoholism problem which he simultaneously talks endlessly about and seems to be unaware of.

  • No Longer Valuable

I used to think this was the best lifting podcast, and one of the most enjoyable podcasts in general. The show now provides much less insight and is almost geared exclusively toward beginner lifters. The worst part is going back to old episodes and remembering how good it used to be. It’s particularly sad hearing the old hosts say how they were going to be themselves and authentic, and not water themselves down, and then going to new episodes where swears are bleeped out with an obnoxious beep l... more

  • Easy on using “elderly” young man.

On the latest podcast, the podcaster used the word "elderly" to refer to the 60+ age group in a study. I personally don't agree with that term as I am 65, I exercise, and I don't consider myself close to being elderly. I think in the future, when you both reach 65, you may also feel the same way and not want to be labeled as such.

Lifting in Your 50s and 60s: Marty Curran on Strength, Recovery, and Competing for the Long Haul
Q: Is competing still interesting to you?
Yes, it remains a motivating factor, especially when there's a clear reason to train and push hard, but it's balanced against recovery, shoulder issues, and the evolving structure of workouts.
Strength Training for Golfers: Build Power, Increase Distance, and Train for the Long Haul with Jimmy Wisinski
Q: What practical range routine can golfers use to train like pros?
Use a five-by-five style on the range, separating club groups and focusing on quality reps with scheduled short breaks to mimic real rounds and track progress.
Strength Training for Golfers: Build Power, Increase Distance, and Train for the Long Haul with Jimmy Wisinski
Q: How do you manage training volume across in-season and off-season for golfers?
Keep a base level of full-body strength work, reduce volume in-season while maintaining intensity, and gradually increase volume in the off-season when energy and calories allow, always aligning with golf schedules.
Strength Training for Golfers: Build Power, Increase Distance, and Train for the Long Haul with Jimmy Wisinski
Q: Why do golfers often see improved distance when they get stronger?
Because increased strength improves force production, which translates to faster, more energy-efficient swings and higher clubhead speeds when combined with proper technique and timing.
Strength Training for Life: How One Client Stayed Consistent for 7 Years with Seth Hible
Q: What changes have you noticed in your recovery needs over time?
He notes recovery required longer windows, shifting from four days a week to three, and learning to regulate intensity and volume with coaching guidance to protect joints and stay healthy.
