Love this podcast! Great host and guests. Would listen again!
Talk about bands, their music, their journey, their highs (in both sense) and their lows.
been listening this podcast for a while and was already finding it very, very good but - the Sham 69 tour report is absolutely amazing and, in my eyes, brought it to an absolutely new height!
cant recommend it more!
I absolutely love this show. The document shows are well researched and you get so much more than just the history of each band. Tom also does monthly round ups to let you know what’s happening in the music world as well as some really interesting interviews with people from many different bands.
I can’t rate this show highly enough. It’s a must listen!!!!!
I was blown away by the Stiff Little Fingers episode. I love the way this show goes down little rabbit holes, chasing little side stories down before returning to the core narrative. Also impressive is how historic interviews are cut and rearranged to give different perspectives on the same topic. Really enjoyable and I’ll listen to it again.
And I’m also enjoying listening to some of the other shows where I previously knew nothing about the artists. The presenter’s understated but enthusiasti... more
Never failed to inform and entertain. Keep them coming
Great podcast if you are into punk. I was searching for very early Adam and the ants stuff and found a great episode from Tom. It was very well put together and totally fascinating. Although I’m not a fan of half of the bands featured in previous episodes Tom delivers an great insight that makes you want to continue listening. His interviews are always lively including one with a record label owner who’s name I can’t remember but told great stories. So if you are into harder to find stuff on ban... more
Another great podcast lots now to revisit and lots to check out.
Packed with information, this podcast relates it in a way that holds your attention.
A show that intelligently weaves tales of punk in a way that aficionados can admire and that novices can enter with open arms ready to learn about the well known and the lesser known angles of an evocative end of music. The episode on The Slits is one of the finest episodes pf podcasting in recent memory. Give it a shot, and be ready to get immersed.
Thomas Austin-Morgan is fantastically knowledgeable when it comes to the history of bands. From forming to song writing, Thomas shares all the details you could ever want regarding rock bands. Check him out!
Despite knowing little more than the names, I loved The Slits episode.
Tom’s research and storytelling is top notch. He’s never failed to tell me something about an act I might’ve been listening to for at least the last forty years, and I’ll happily listen to anything he covers from here on in no matter how familiar.
Lockdown here in uk has allowed me to listen to all the podcasts and just wow! Meticulously researched, clearly a Labour of love and it shows. I’m a fan of music family trees so really enjoy the asides on future projects of the players. Thank you for this. Perhaps spear of destiny, theatre of hate, the icicle works, the sisters of mercy and the alarm may be worthy of consideration in the future? Keep up the good work
I’ve listened to dozens and dozens of punk/music podcasts and this one really does the homework and always has info I didn’t know.
Well done! Keep it up!
I just found out about this podcast, but I’m hooked. I came of age listening to the Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, Generation X and the rest. These podcasts allow me to peek into the nooks and crannies surrounding these great bands. Very informative and very well researched and produced. Nice job, mate!
Update: I listened to the second long podcast about The Damned. It brought back memories of seeing them at the Whisky-a-go-go in Hollywood during the summer of 1979, when I was 20. It was eit... more
