yesssss okay i feel you both on this! i also thought the barrier to entry was a little too high and it frustrated me that there were so many names and titles used interchangeably. i also refuse to do homework before i read a book and didn’t love how confusing on purpose it felt because the world building was So Much. but i loved the book as a whole (after i figured out what was happening which took me almost as long as it took gideon) and i liked the characters and liked the dynamic between gide... more
