  • On my saved list

Got into BY Ultras last year. This podcast is mentioned in “There is no finish” by Stephen Parker, and I’m really pleased I found it. I don’t know the interviewer, but he has a great style, and really digs down in his questioning to get the best out of his guests.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sam Christie
Q: What was your preparation like for Dead Cow Gully?
It involved a coach, structured sleep loading, caffeine withdrawal, sleep strategies, and careful crew planning to optimize pacing and rest.
Sam Christie
Q: What inspired you to start running ultras?
A documentary about the Barclay Marathons, especially Gary Robbins and the Where Dreams Go to Die, lit the spark to try an ultra and work up to longer distances.
Scott Cameron
Q: What are your plans between No Time to Die and SAT Champs, and how will you approach training?
I plan to focus on training and conditioning, with a lighter race load but a strong emphasis on strength work and hill training, along with volunteering and crewing to stay connected to the sport while refining preparation.
Scott Cameron
Q: What was it like racing with Jashy and how did that dynamic influence your strategy?
Racing with Jashy was incredibly insightful; we had different pacing approaches, but the core of the strategy was honesty and staying focused lap by lap, which helped keep us competitive and motivated as final steppers.
Scott Cameron
Q: Was it on your mind to make the Australian team before No Time to Die started?
Yes, it was definitely on my mind as a real possibility, and I treated No Time to Die as the opportunity to test whether I could reach the 50- or 60-lap mark and potentially qualify, rather than forcing it as a sole objective.
