Good stuff for the backyard enthusiast! You'll pick up lots of hints and info on the backyard format. The nutrition podcasts are very informative as well.
I’ve entered my first ever BYU in Coffs Harbour later this year. The podcast is helping this newbie learn some tips and tricks from Patto and some awesome guests. Very entertaining and informative. 5 yards, I mean 5 stars.
Great podcast, so glad I’ve discovered this before embarking on my first BYU in a few weeks.
Got into BY Ultras last year. This podcast is mentioned in “There is no finish” by Stephen Parker, and I’m really pleased I found it. I don’t know the interviewer, but he has a great style, and really digs down in his questioning to get the best out of his guests.
I love this show! I’ve just completed my first backyard ultra and learnt so much from BUP. Patto, thanks for the time that you give to this show and the running community. Your down to earth approach and great questions are a joy to listen to.

Across recent episodes, guests share personal journeys, training philosophies, and behind-the-scenes crew dynamics that power multi-day events. The conversations often dive into race-day psychology, nutrition, pacing, safety, and event organization, with a clear focus on community-building within the ultra-running world and practical takeaways for aspiring competitors, organizers, and fans.
