  • I dig the BC here in AD 2025

One of "The Dozens" here writing as a big fan.

Reasons the Back Corner is big in my life:

    1) you guys prepare--there's thought put into what you'll talk about and you have some stuff prepped beforehand

    2) you have guests but it's not just an interview show--you include them in the nonsense

    3) speaking of nonsense--I LOVE THE NONSENSE stuff... you guys are just plain funny and riff off each other in a really fun way... I know you both and your real friendship and personality translates so well more

  • Names for followers…

Interesting podcast and takes. It’s also interesting to hear a topic come up and then to hear it fleshed out and see the influence in the Sunday sermon. Lol, if you could hear the agreements and disagreement from the people who listen in the sheds across the Atlantic.

    Keep it up.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

33 BC - Missionaries, Nazis and Nuclear Bombs with Dr HC Wilson
Q: From Dr. Wilson's perspective, is formal education for pastors overrated or overhated?
He suggests a nuanced view: some formal education is necessary, but the focus should be on foundational Bible and theology and cultural/contextual preparation, with different paths for different contexts and roles.
36 BC - Mele Kalikimaka, 3rd Man Syndrome, and Overcoming the Powers of Darkness with Jon Thompson
Q: Can you give us the story behind Deliverance and how you arrived at your approach?
John shares that his initial reluctance to engage with deliverance gradually gave way as experiences with people in ministry demanded a theological framework. He recounts personal encounters, the need to reconcile Scripture with observed phenomena, and a long journey through church history, exegesis, and pastoral practice to develop a robust, biblically grounded process.
32 BC - The Rapture, Church Splits, Nationalism and Movies That Make You Cry with Dr Ben MacDonald
Q: Do you believe in the Rapture, yes or no?
A nuanced discussion follows about dispensationalism versus other eschatologies, with a general openness to different interpretations but emphasis on the central question of how the end times relate to everyday faith and church life.
29 BC - Giants, Mythical Cougars, Halloweening, and a Bunch of Other Stuff with Katie Peterson
Q: What is Katie's backstory and how did she come to her current role?
Katie describes growing up in a small Canadian town, encountering Christianity in late high school, and a pivotal camp experience that redirected her life toward ministry and wellness, leading to her hosting Praise, Prayer and Protein.
49 BC - Eating Steak, Living on the Moon, and Leaving the LGBTQ Community with Sarah Kingston
Q: Sarah, maybe you could start out by telling us kind of the quick overview of the story of how you came to faith in Jesus and how that changed your life.
Sarah recounts an early faith experience, subsequent years of living in a same-sex lifestyle, and a pivotal decision in 2020 after a conversation with family and a desire to reconnect with her grandmother, leading to a transformative confession of faith and baptism.
