  • A great exploration of the kinda weird idea of movie novelizations. Fun discussions are had whether the books are good or bad, and the hosts have a wonderful camaraderie.

Before him at the top of the dune stood an apparition. It was a rectangular slab, a bright red dab on a colorless canvas, twice his height, the sun glinted on its edges. He did not hesitate to sidle up to it, a kind and expected friend, grinning with relief as he slipped a coin into the slot beneath the words "Drink Coca-Cola in bottles." He stood back, giving the mechanism space to fulfill its single task and deliver carbonated manna from heaven.

David stopped to catch his breath. The heat was bad enough already, and now that the cocaine was kicking in he was starting to sweat through his shirt. He took off his jacket, it really didn't fit him anyway. When he had recovered from all that running around like a maniac, he took a minute to introduce everyone else. They were a big group so it took a while, but they all deserved as much credit as he did.

Well, maybe not quite as much. When they met back in Rhode Island the project had been hi... more

I hung up the phone. I’d been living a kind of magic, an excitable blur of half-remembered heroics from a paperback potboiler. But reading is just reading. The guys in those books? Those guys have to live with their choices. Those guys get hurt. And I didn’t even know which guy I was anymore. I had killed a man. The magic was schoolboy bulls**t. I sagged toward the floor and started to cry. The dog took a step forward and licked the tears from my face. I hugged it, and held on like that dumb mut... more

  • FUN HOSTS, FUN PREMISE!

Andrew, Hannah are amazing hosts who are doing the lord’s work by tackling every novelization ever written.

It’s so fun to discover how many movies have novelizations and even tertiary tomes that expand on the world of the movie in interesting ways. Like, who knew there were Indiana Jones Choose Your Own Adventure novels. And who knew I would want to read them so desperately.

Andrew and Hannah have a unique chemistry, that is simultaneously loving and antagonistic — but the friendship always s... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

U.N.C.LE. #2 : The Doomsday Affair by Harry Whittington ( w/ Morgan Richter )
Q: What makes this Whittington novel stand out as an Uncle tie-in?
The book preserves the TV show's spirit by delivering fast-paced, witty prose and character-focused scenes, while expanding into a feature-length adventure with darker, more brutal moments that aren't as prominent on screen.
BONUS: Cannonball Run II (w/ John Cribbs)
Q: What was your overall impression of Cannonball Run II compared to the first film?
The crew generally felt the sequel improves in mood and energy, with stronger chemistry between Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise and more playful meddling with the race structure, even if the plot remains loose and episodic.
Alien: Isolation by Keith R.A. DeCandido (w/ Keith R.A. DeCandido and Trevor Thomas)
Q: How did you come to write the Alien Isolation novelization?
Keith explains the licensing process, the need for a strong proposal, and how the 40th anniversary timeline and broader Amanda Ripley materials created an opportunity to flesh out her story beyond the game.
Death Stranding Vol. 2 by Hitori Nojima ( w/ Matt Fisher)
Q: Matt, could you explain to John Goodman what the Death Stranding is and what's going on with our main character?
The Death Stranding is a global apocalypse that merges the living and the dead, collapsing infrastructure while prompting a fragile new network of cities; the main character is a porter tasked with delivering and connecting people, all while navigating the mysterious forces of the beach, the BB, and the extinction entity plotlines.
Ranking 2025
Q: What are the three trilogies being considered?
The original Star Wars trilogy, the original Indiana Jones trilogy, and the Back to the Future trilogy.
