I’ve been listening for a few years and this has become one i don’t miss. The level of detail to their research is great and educational, but the real value is their thematic analysis of each film. if you like film and want to learn more about how it’s made and what it means, tune in.
if i could choose one film for them to do, it would be the 1961 West Side Story. great production history and i’d love to hear them talk about the eye of that duck
Such a deeply charming and fun podcast. The hosts have great chemistry and the episodes are so engrossing. Favorite podcast of all time
Honestly love this podcast so much. Well-researched film histories, thoughtful takes, and two friends who truly complement each other. The format and premise is so versatile and never gets stale. I find a lot of film chat unpleasantly obnoxious, or a way for people to flaunt their *pushes glasses up* huge brains, but this team are always having intelligent, open, and joyful discussions about the smartest and dumbest films around. Thank you to everyone who puts so much time into making such a bri... more

Discovered Eye of the Duck 2 months ago to listen to a pod abt a movie that none of my usual movie pods had covered. Eye of the Duck is not in that category! The range of films is huge for the few years these guys have been at it, and the quality of discussion is top tier. I like the dynamic between the ... more

Two hosts explore cinema by isolating a movie's defining moment—the Eye of the Duck scene—and unpack how that singular beat carries the film's themes, production history, and cultural context. Across episodes they dive deep into genre trends, directorial choices, and the collaborative networks behind notable films, all while delivering thoughtful analysis, thick production values, and playful banter. The show often threads in meta-commentary about the industry and film history, making it a rich listen for cinephiles who enjoy grounded breakdowns and scene-centric storytelling. A standout is the long-form, two-host dynamic that balances rigorous research with approachable, conversational energy, plus occasional mini-series and future-season ... more
