I am so very much in debt to this remarkable podcast. Have you heard the word is love? Thank you for understanding the heart of the Beatles. May the joy go on and on.
Unfortunately the podcasts are cut from a rigid template. It is ironic that they/them make it a virtue to redress Beatles author bias but they/them are perhaps more guilty of it themselves. It’s loaded. For some reason they see this space as a battleground and this leads to an abrasive sourness. Their language and tone is divisive, patronising and painful in pitch/tonality and timbre. And just like the internet anyone can find many points to back up an opinion but the real skill is to present it... more
Time for a review update. I have obsessed about the foundation for much of Lewisohn's "facts" for quite awhile, and finally began listening to every interview I could find of him, and quickly became truly shocked at how fast and loose his stories were becoming. That the ground "Tune In" stands on is so shaky was bad enough, but between the clear conflict of interest issues and his stories and "facts" stated in interviews sometimes growing to near-delusional proportions, it was driving me mad... ... more
Really enjoyed a fresh approach to their story. Focusing on the dynamic between the two main songwriters versus the usual trivia and anecdotes we’ve heard a zillion times was refreshing. Once the breakup arc they’ve been covering is over, I wonder where the podcast will go? Looking forward to the ‘’Jean Jacket Tears’’ when they reach a wider audience...
