I LOVE your show: and your analysis of Tune in was a superb corrective. I love the book but intuited a meanness towards Paul in it (and in a few interviews with Lewisham.) You have put flesh on the bones of that suspicion, and in shepherding a more sympathetic textual analysis have deepend my love, respect, sympathy and wonder for him. more
If you’re looking for a Beatles podcast which rehashes all of the old tropes, this isn’t for you. Phoebe and Daphne look at the Beatles, and John and Paul in particular, with a fresh perspective, focusing on the relationships in the band and band dynamics. I also love that they look at the Beatles as real people, and are willing to call them out for not-so-good stuff they’ve done, along with praising them when they deserve it. Some people think the podcast is anti-John, but I haven’t found that ... more
I enjoy nearly all your shows ladies, they are funny and interesting. However your shows about Tune in I find a little picky and incorrect .Mark has known Paul McCartney for many years, has worked for him and likes him.To say he is biased against him is not right. He has written a magnificent book ( hopefully two more to come) one of the best I’ve read and I’ve read ‘em all! Lastly, about Johns “crip” behaviour.I myself am partially disabled and I wish well meaning folks would stop taking offence on ... more
Lot of anger in this podcast, lot of tearing down every single person that has written about the Beatles, a lot of condescension, a lot of pro-Paul, anti - John bias. Very difficult listen. I thought the Beatles were supposed to be fun?
The new series showing the bias against Paul in Tune In, is epic, and a service to Beatle fans!. Tune in is an epic work, but with friends like AKOM helping to show where it needs some filling out, crucial balance to Beatledom is restored. I am sure this work will help with the future books in the series!! Well done, both of you!!
