  • Love the podcast- fix the glitches and noises

Love this podcast. Always so thoughtful and really appreciate that it is getting people to read and think about things that matter.

There’s a noise-like a camera shutter, every few minutes on the apple pod. Not sure about other formats. It’s startling. Literally every few minutes.

Loud. And takes you out of the interview. Maybe take a peek at that. Otherwise great.

Russia Expert: Putin Destroyed Democracy And Trump's Doing It Too - Jamison Firestone
Q: What do you think is possible for Russia in the future?
He believes change is possible as memory of the 1990s and figures like Navalny persist, but emphasizes that economic pressures and Western support are critical to pushing back against authoritarian consolidation.
Russia Expert: Putin Destroyed Democracy And Trump's Doing It Too - Jamison Firestone
Q: What was the turning point that made you decide to leave Russia?
The convergence of mafia threats, government corruption, and the escalation of risk, including raids and bugging of offices, convinced him that staying put was untenable and that departure was necessary for safety and continued work on anti-corruption efforts.
Russia Expert: Putin Destroyed Democracy And Trump's Doing It Too - Jamison Firestone
Q: Why Russia? What about the chaos of the 1990s attracted you to practice law there and help build a firm?

Q: Tell us about your family of origin and what led you into Russia.
Firestone shares a stark background in New York with a family history of high-risk choices, which shaped his resilience and eventual move into Russia after exposure to the country's turbulent early 1990s environment.
