  • Audio volume

Please fix the audio, it’s softer than all the shows I listen to, then the commercial comes on and it’s too loud. Don’t have this issue with other podcasts.

  • Audio volume

Please fix the audio volume, it’s softer than all the shows I listen to so I need to change the volume way up to be able to listen, but it hurts my ears when the commercial comes on and when next podcast starts playing before I had chance to change the volume.

Love the show otherwise and is a supporter.

  • My favorite podcast

I have been listening to AirTalk for over a decade and the show has continued to impress me all these years. Larry is one of the most level-headed, intelligent, and gracious hosts you can find. Larry avoids bias and presses both sides of the issue. Years ago the time slot changed and I was not able to listen on my commute but I now listen to the podcast everyday and I contribute dollars to KPCC quarterly as my gratitude for the quality programming of AirTalk. -Matthew, Windsor Square, Los Angele... more

  • Let down

I remember a time when NPR was one of the few places left where you could get unbiased news information that showcased both sides of an argument, sadly that is no longer the case. Larry Mantle is a very fair host, he is always calm and collected, and very knowledgeable. My issue is that the guests they have come on his shows are disproportionately left leaning which unfortunately is the new trend among most media outlets and it’s truly disheartening to know that NPR now fits into that category.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The latest on the war with Iran, SoCal History, and more
Q: What is the legal basis for the U.S. strikes without congressional authorization?
Experts discuss that the president can rely on constitutional authority to use force as commander-in-chief, but without explicit congressional authorization, the justification rests on the scope and duration being limited and tied to a recognized national emergency and self-defense, else Congress should approve or constrain actions.
What are conditions like for those detained in ICE’s largest holding facility?, AI in science, and more
Q: How is AI being used differently in climate science compared with traditional methods?
AI is mainly speeding up coding, data analysis, and downscaling of global models to finer regional detail, while humans continue to lead the assessment and interpretation for IPCC reports.
What are conditions like for those detained in ICE’s largest holding facility?, AI in science, and more
Q: What finally changed in the White House's stated goals as the conflict progressed?
Initially there was talk of broad regime change, but later officials narrowed the aims to specific eliminations of ballistic missiles, nuclear capabilities, proxies, and the Iranian Navy to avoid an open-ended war.
What are conditions like for those detained in ICE’s largest holding facility?, AI in science, and more
Q: Okay, so what is your understanding of the intelligence assessment at the time? Was this supposed to be quick and decisive?
The briefing suggested multiple eventualities, including the possibility of civil unrest or regime change, and while there was a temptation to expect a quick, clean strike, officials warned that outcomes could be unpredictable and not easily controlled.
The battle for Voter ID comes to California, TV Talk, and more
Q: What would California's voter ID measure require voters to show at the polls and on mail-in ballots?
It would require showing government-issued ID at the polls and would implement a four-digit identification number on mail-in ballots, with citizenship verification for those on the voter rolls as part of the process.
