  • Taylor Lorenz??? REALLY?

I’m sorry, but having on Taylor Lorenz—a known liar and hack—who has turned chicanery and gaslighting into an (albeit bumpy) career path has destroyed my respect for this show. Listening to her try to gaslight and shame us into denying our own critical thinking skills is audience abuse and I won’t take it. I’m so sick of being spoken down to by professional trolls like Taylor. Respect your audience and their intellect.

  • Interview with Adrian Bonnenberger (military)

I really appreciate hearing the interview with the army officer who is trying to get his interpreter out. This is a humanitarian catastrophe which will be forgotten unless Biden takes more action.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why climate change is making our food less nutritious
Q: What role does an asset inventory play in fixing city infrastructure?
An asset inventory clarifies what city assets exist, their condition, and the cost to repair or upgrade them, enabling a comprehensive, citywide plan rather than district-by-district fixes.
Why climate change is making our food less nutritious
Q: What is a capital infrastructure program and why has Los Angeles struggled to implement one?
A CIP is a governance tool to take stock of infrastructure needs, prioritize projects, and plan funding over multiple years; LA has lacked citywide coordination due to fragmented departments, political pressures, and limited resources, leading to a piecemeal approach.
$25 billion (and counting): The Iran War’s cost, 2 months in
Q: What role do policy and economics play in shaping the battlefield budget?
Policy and economic incentives, including lobbying by defense contractors and the military-industrial complex, sustain and expand military spending, often outpacing what is necessary for immediate conflicts and embedding higher future costs into regular budgets.
$25 billion (and counting): The Iran War’s cost, 2 months in
Q: Why is it so difficult to pin down the true cost of war beyond the initial military expenditures?
Because the initial Pentagon spending is only part of the picture; long-term veterans' care, interest on war debt, budgetary increases that persist year after year, and ongoing maintenance of military assets all accumulate, making the true cost far larger than early figures suggest.
‘A hugely terrible opinion’: UCLA’s Rick Hasen on SCOTUS voting rights decision
Q: What are the potential remedies or next steps if Congress wants to counteract this ruling?
Congress could pass a strong voting rights act with clearer language that preserves race-conscious protections, and there may also be calls to reform the Supreme Court or expand it, depending on political outcomes in future elections.
