  • Not fit, don’t work out

It’s amazing how much they judge and identify folks by how “unfit” they are. I am handicapped and unfortunately went from being an athlete to now fall into that unfit category.

You two are made for each other….glad I can choose not to listen to you.

Hannah Simms on The Fernie Gravel Grind, Women in Racing, and Where Gravel is Going
Q: How do you balance racing with organizing races for the Anything Goes series?
It's about staying connected to the community, letting rider feedback shape decisions, and gradually taking on more organizing responsibilities while keeping training and racing as the priority; the goal is to maintain the grassroots spirit even as the series grows.
Hannah Simms on The Fernie Gravel Grind, Women in Racing, and Where Gravel is Going
Q: How did you get into biking and racing, and what drew you to gravel specifically?
I grew up around bikes, did mountain biking from a young age, and gravel felt like a natural extension that lets me explore more places while still riding technical terrain; it also aligned with my stage-race interests.
Deb Armstrong on New Challenges, Giving Back, and Living Young
Q: How do you stay relevant and continue to contribute after achieving Olympic success?
She explains that relevance comes from continual learning, teaching, and sharing knowledge. By diversifying interests, teaching through PSA certifications, and maintaining curiosity, she stays engaged in skiing and broader personal development instead of resting on past achievements.
Deb Armstrong on New Challenges, Giving Back, and Living Young
Q: What was your coming-out story and how did it influence your life and platform?
Deb recalls being outed by her mother in a difficult era, which pushed her to seek spaces where she could live authentically. She emphasizes the importance of visibility for others and the responsibility of using her voice to support LGBTQ+ athletes and allies, even when it comes with personal and professional costs.
Unbound Gravel 2025: Conquering the 200-Mile Race
Q: Explain that, like what about it was hard? And like, why would you do it, knowing it was going to be that hard?
What makes something like that so hard is how unrelenting it is.
