Each week, games journalism veterans Luke Plunkett, Nathan Grayson, Chris Person, Riley MacLeod, and Gita Jackson – though not always all at once, because that’s too many pe... more

For a podcast that includes how it’s “creator-owned, listener-supported” in every episode intro, there’s a conspicuous absence of a mention as to who makes the podcast for those creators. My close friend Mischa Stanton, a 15 year podcast design/editing veteran, goes uncredited in 117-and-counting episodes. That’s not just disappointing, it’s antithetical to Aftermath’s stated position as creators. It’s a failure to fulfill basic best practices of creation. Maybe they change the way they intro/ou... more

A veteran-led show that blends deep dives into video games, industry labor, and media culture with candid conversations about journalism, platform dynamics, and the economics of indie work. Episodes frequently feature conversations on game design, live-service economies, and the politics of representation, often anchored by thoughtful perspectives from long-time game reporters. Notably, the program leans into worker-owned, independent coverage, spotlighting guest voices from across gaming, tech, and media to illuminate how coverage, funding, and labor shape the industry. It's especially compelling for listeners who want sharp critique, behind-the-scenes industry insight, and a mix of humor with serious analysis about the state of games jour... more
