You either like Austin Walker and his whole deal or you don't, and that is the deciding factor on whether someone would like this podcast or not.
I don't even like video games for the most part, but the Friends at the Table cast has such a wide variety of tastes that there will be at least one game that piques my interest to look into.
Knowing that this is a weird parasocial commitment, I genuinely hope Austin can find the strength to adopt a cat some day
Austin and the rest of the Friends at the Table do such a great job of being thoughtful and critical fans of games. It seems rare to have people talk about things they love even while discussing the faults. Thank you!
But I think I could date his mom
First off: thank you Austin for the chapter markers 🙏 the attention to detail doesn’t go unnoticed.
I’m mostly a casual gamer but find myself overwhelmed with the sheer amount of Game out there in the world. Side Story is a delightful way to keep abreast of what’s new. And it’s the Friends so even if I’m not into a specific game, I get to enjoy a lovely, honest, and hilarious chat.
The “i” stands for “Important Podcast”
Heard Austin mention this podcast over at Nextlander and have been enjoying it very much. Smart, funny people who like each other and provide thoughtful criticism of less-covered games. But let's be honest, they could be talking about their grocery lists and I would tune in. Also: Janine Hawkins is legit my new favorite podcaster? The only knock to this show is that she isn't on every episode. But the others are great too. Fantastic show.
