We talk about friction a lot here on Side Story. Friction as difficulty. Friction as texture. Friction as erotics. But today, as the gem slides onto the lathe, as the clay spins around the wheel, as the brush strokes across the long arm, we talk abou... more

It's like Roundball but Americanized and professionalized, the adverserial Pitcher role in stead of throwing the ball up for a swing yourself is interesting, for the runner, or Batter in this case, it's kind of like Tennis or being a goalkeeper. Super interesting to learn about how the inclusion of machine/video assisted rulings are affecting the game, and i really got to thinking about how the "same" games differ in different leagues and levels of professionality. Love the show in general too!
I am the greatest living fan of Austin Walkers video game podcasting. So much so that I follow giant bomb, nextlander, and remap because of him. I just had no idea that he was back doing a gaming podcast till he appeared on Gertsman podcast and Blood god pod. Time to subscribe to this damn friends at the table finally. A huge voice is filled in my life. Thanks for the return Austin!
Come for the games, stay for the friends. And the bird/fish antibiotics.

I put the “I’ve got an open friend mouth” episode on and my two warring cats slept together on the bed while listening to the gang talk about Romeo is a dead man and Marathon. I can’t attach a photo here but this podcast is good.

A thoughtful, discussion-forward show that sits at the intersection of game design, criticism, and player culture. Episodes cover a wide range—from mechanical and tactile experiences in craft-focused titles to relational and narrative-driven RPGs, space-horror aesthetics, and indie games with rich world-building. The rotating cast of hosts keeps conversations lively and accessible, balancing deep analysis with warmth and humor. A standout quality is the crew's willingness to connect game design decisions to broader cultural and social themes, making it engaging for listeners who want both critical insight and genuine, friendly banter.
