This week it's all about style and interior design. Lou wants to redecorate his living room as a surprise for his wife while she's away at a fat farm (yeah, we know). But he can't do it alone, so he enlists Mary's help in finding a designer, and she ... more
This week's episode, originally recorded *checks watch* last June(?!), definitely reads differently in our current climate. Rhoda is unceremoniously fired from her job and spends a week loafing around, mildly depressed, on Mary's couch. Mary tries to... more
It only took us 9 months but we're back with some banked episodes from last year, before ... well, everything. This week, Lou finds out something unsettling about his favourite son-in-law — he was planning on cheating on his wife, Lou's daughter, and... more
And we're back! After what felt like forever, but was really seven months, we are back! Unfortunately, life just got in the way at the tail end of last year and the beginning of this one, so we had to take a bit of a personal leave of absence. But no... more
This week is all about superstition! Lou sends a chain letter to everyone in the WJM office, and Mary is tempted to trash the thing and break the chain. Lou, however, guilts her into keeping up with it. Through this, she has the great misfortune of b... more
As the writers and anchors of WJM-TV go on strike, Lou and Mary are left to fend for themselves as best they can. Meanwhile we discuss some of the larger strikes in US history, as well as the expectations placed on us under pressure and how we perfor... more
Mary reluctantly attends her high school reunion, only to find the obnoxious Howard Arnell in attendance, and herself at the mercy of former classmates' ire. Meanwhile, Rhoda tags along in the hopes of finding a man. Shoes are removed, socks have hol... more
In Cover Boy, Ted's brother comes to town. But their relationship is complicated and full of insecurity and resentment on both sides. Meanwhile, we discuss sibling rivalry, the difference between male and female insecurities, how we cope, and so much... more
If you’re a fan of The Mary Tyler Moore Show you will be incredibly disappointed listening this this podcast. In my personal opinion I don’t see the point of why these two bitter, narcissistic and angry people would spend the time recording a podcast on this iconic show. The MTM show is certainly of it’s time and deserves to be called out at times for its sexism and portrayal of women however there is also a depth and complexity that this podcast ignores. The anger and their sad personal commen... more
Maybe my favorite tv show of all time. To hear the theme song makes me tear up. Thanks fir bottling this in a podcast
For those interested in hearing Millennial feminism take the fun out of the greatest tv comedy, MTM.
I was very pleasantly surprised to have found this podcast! I was born after the MTM show was already off the air, but I grew up watching reruns and absolutely loving Mary. I started listening to this podcast not expecting much, because what are the chances that I would come across a random podcast that could do my love for MTM justice? Well, I absolutely adore the mother and daughter discussion and banter on this podcast. The discussions are intelligent and insightful. I hope there is more to c... more

I’m surprised you didn’t dig deeper into 60s
TV & bring up “Julia”, a ground-breaking, Emmy Award-winning show starring beautiful African -American singer/actor, Diahann Carrol. It premiered in 1968 & ran for 3 years. “Julia” is a widowed nurse with a 5-year old boy ( Marc Copage) working in a hospital. It was a situation comedy but many of her problems were typical for single, working mothers. She was the FIRST in many ways!

I love your Mary Tyler Moore podcast!
It’s so great to find other people who love the show! I’ve been watching the Mary Tyler Moore show for quite some time in reruns since the past few years. I thought I was the only one who loves the show.
I don’t remember watching it when it originally aired as I was a little girl during the 70s. Mary has the best outfits! I think they would be almost in fashion now.
Really love your insight into each episode and I love the mother and daughter banter.

I like the culture comparisons, but you don’t really talk about the show itself.
I look forward to more episodes. I was a 6 year old girl when this show began . I remember the characters, song and opening sequence but don’t remember specific episodes because I was too young. I hope you continue with more podcasts!
This mother and daughter team, besides being repugnant and profane, are unable to give a review of the show without their ideological and radical feninazi views predominating. MTM would be appalled. Stick to reviewing the show. Your leftist take on everything else is nauseating and quite juvenile.
Great fun podcast but the sound was uneven. It sounded like people moved away from the mics sometimes, and I struggled to hear occasionally - and I was using earphones! Otherwise tons of fun. Thanks.
If you like politically correct nonsense about a show from almost half a century ago you might like it, but you should also rethink the decisions in your life that got you here.
I truly enjoy hearing episodes of this wonderful show broken down by such engaging and intelligent ladies. They bring such great perspective. I really hope they do Season 2 and beyond!
