  • Binge listened

I just discovered this podcast today and although there are other adhd podcasts I’ve been listening to, listening to Laura and the chats with guests and professionals made me realise that I could finally come out of hiding. I don’t need to live with the shame anymore, thank you Laura and all your wonderful guests who shared their experiences. Since it dawned on me that I had adhd (undiagnosed - but when you know, you know). I asked my GP about it 8 years ago and he just blanked me. I felt so stu... more

  • 9th July most adhd things

In my mid 40s only very recently diagnosed by my therapist this is the first ADHD podcast I ever listened to the first episode ever as I begin reading and exploring what the hell this means. While, everyone’s experience of ADHD is different It’s so reassuring to hear all his experiences and know that yes you are actually kind of normal within this specific context. Thank you you wonderfully weird beautiful people.

  • Laura is pushing for systemic change to better support ADHDers whilst bringing visibility to their stories, especially those with late diagnoses. She brings her own brand of humor, a ferocity for justice, and a wide open heart. The world would be a better place with more Lauras in it!

Keeping it Simple with Tatton Spiller
Q: How can someone who feels overwhelmed by politics still participate meaningfully?
Start with core values and practical choices, use simple decision tools or quizzes, and remember that voting is one of the most direct ways to influence local policy without needing to master every policy detail.
Keeping it Simple with Tatton Spiller
Q: Could you explain in simple terms what local elections mean for everyday life in England, Scotland, and Wales?
Local elections decide who runs councils, which in turn affects services like pothole repair, school funding, park improvements, and social care—things that people notice in daily life more than in national campaigns.
ADHD, Hormones, Perimenopause & Menopause: Dr Helen Wall
Q: What advice would you give to someone trying to discuss HRT or hormone-related treatment with their doctor, especially when ADHD is involved?
Prepare in advance: write down symptoms, questions, and goals; ask for menopause-trained clinicians; advocate for themselves or bring a support person; consider second opinions if needed; understand that the system is a barrier and push for a comprehensive, individualized plan rather than a quick check of blood tests alone.
ADHD, Hormones, Perimenopause & Menopause: Dr Helen Wall
Q: What is the recommended treatment approach for ADHD in this context, and how do hormones fit into that?
A combination of ADHD medication and coaching or therapy is typically recommended; however, not everyone can access or tolerates medication. Hormone stabilization, lifestyle factors, and addressing stress, diet, and gut health are also important. In some cases, HRT may help balance symptoms by stabilizing hormone levels, but this depends on the individual.
ADHD, Hormones, Perimenopause & Menopause: Dr Helen Wall
Q: What specifically can fluctuating estrogen and progesterone levels in perimenopause trigger or worsen for ADHD symptoms?
Estrogen modulates dopamine and other neurotransmitters that govern attention and executive function, so volatility in estrogen and progesterone during perimenopause can lead to more variable brain signaling, worsening ADHD symptoms for some women; stabilization of hormones may help improve focus and emotional regulation.
