From a 74 year old woman who has been overweight for 40 years I find these honest discussions excellent. It's so refreshing to hear a point of view that's positive and non critical of overweight people. A doctor recently asked me if I could walk 100 metres, when I said that I walk 2-3 kilometres 6 days a week he looked very surprised. I weigh 78kg and have common old people issues like arthritis etc but I keep active. Thanks for this podcast.
This is the podcast I’ve been waiting for. A couple of years ago I decided I would not listen to anyone who had not studied weight or lived with weight any more. And now here you are.
This podcast could not have started at a better time for me. I have always struggled my weight since I moved out of home. I lost weight post pregnancy and did the before/after photo thinking that would be it. I have into my 50’s gained most of the weight back despite regular exercise and eating well. I have just started Mounjaro injections and the biggest revelation is the silencing of the “food noise” which I have never experienced before. I am a yoga and meditation teacher so know practices fo... more
Love the play on words with the title. Excellent discussions and I love the fact that you have one scientist and one regular person talking about what life is really like for someone with obesity. Keep the conversations going!

A balance of rigorous science and lived experience drives discussions around weight, obesity, and the meds that dominate headlines. Episodes explore GLP-1 drugs, dieting culture, affordability and access, the social costs of pursuing weight loss, and how policy and the food environment shape health outcomes. A recurring strength is the collaborative dynamic between a Cambridge obesity scientist and a journalist with personal experience, paired with segments that debunk myths and rate diets. The show often foregrounds equity, body positivity, and practical takeaways for listeners navigating weight, health, and media narratives.
