  • Fantastic, Science based advice for optimal nutrition

Love the show, I’m so glad I found it. So many important guests with information we need to know to reclaim our health. One thing I would urge though, not to accept sponsors like Quaker Oats and Pepsi. They’re not supporting the goals listeners have.

  • Not based in science

Touting the carnivore diet to fix inflammation, hormonal dysregulation, heart disease, cancer, dementia, and mental health disorders is so dangerous and will kill many people. This is not remotely based on the vast majority of scientific evidence.

Misinformation like this killed my father - he died of a heart attack while working out at his fitness facility - not realizing that exercise could not overcome a meat-centric dietary pattern. He never got to enjoy the retirement he worked so hard fo... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 161 - Dr Johnston | 25 Common Foods That Trigger Heart Attacks
Q: So Dr. Johnston, my first question, you are a board certified vascular surgeon. Do you think that heart attacks are preventable?
Heart attacks are a systemic disease with multiple risk factors; prevention is about addressing a range of factors from inflammation to lipid biology, plaque characteristics, and lifestyle changes, rather than relying on a single measure.
Ep 162 - Dr Koutnik | #1 Way To Lose Weight & Fix Disease [EAT THIS]
Q: How would you measure ketosis and how long have you been on a ketogenic diet?
Ketosis is best tracked with capillary blood glucose and ketone meters (e.g., Keto Mojo) rather than urine strips, and Dr. Koutnik has been on a ketogenic diet for about 15 years with ketone levels typically between 0.3 and 1.5 mmol/L depending on goals.
Ep 159 - Dr Bikman | #1 INSULIN Trick Proven To Burn Fat Faster
Q: What is the role of fasting, and how should one end a fast to avoid negative outcomes?
Fasting can improve insulin sensitivity and promote fat burning, but ending a fast with a large insulin spike can trigger overeating and adverse effects like hypokalemia if electrolytes are not managed. A planned end to the fast focusing on fats and proteins is safer and more effective.
Ep 159 - Dr Bikman | #1 INSULIN Trick Proven To Burn Fat Faster
Q: Does creatine affect insulin or fat loss, and should people consider it for metabolic health?
Creatine does not directly lower insulin, but it supports cellular energy recycling (ATP) and may protect cognitive and brain energy during metabolic stress. It can complement fat-loss strategies by supporting energy and potentially aiding in maintaining lean mass during weight loss.
Ep 159 - Dr Bikman | #1 INSULIN Trick Proven To Burn Fat Faster
Q: How do carbohydrates affect the body's ability to burn fat, and what should people do about it?
Carbohydrates raise insulin and shift metabolism toward glucose burning, reducing fat oxidation. Lowering carbohydrate intake and allowing ketones to rise shifts metabolism toward fat burning, which can accelerate fat loss, especially visceral fat.
