It is refreshing and inspiring to find a niche podcast whose host is so clearly dedicated to the art of letter writing. Kay Collier is a highly respected and accomplished artist and businesswoman who has committed herself to bringing the beautiful art into the 21st century. As a passionate ambassador for handwritten notes and letters, that alone is reason enough for me to listen and support her show, but as I have gone back to “binge listen” to many of her back episodes, I am moved and impressed... more
You shared a story about your grandma’s kind hostessing and etiquette that has a similar film scene. You might find it amusing. Specifically, in The More the Merrier (1943: a romantic comedy starring Jean Arthur, Joel McCrea, and Charles Coburn - available on Amazon Prime Video), there’s a scene featuring a character who mistakenly drinks from a finger bowl, and the gracious host follows suit to avoid embarrassing them.
As someone who loves collecting thought-provoking facts and tidbits, I can’t get enough of this podcast (and newsletter)! 1 Sealed Letter kept me engaged and entertained on a recent transatlantic flight—so much so that I was *almost* disappointed the flight was over. I’m beyond grateful to the algorithm for bringing Kathryn Hastings & Co. into my feed! I’ve always been passionate about/interested in letter writing, stationery, and wax seals. Still, it wasn’t until I discovered the social media a... more
Kay is an amazing artist and letter writing enthusiast. This is a delightful podcast with snippets from history and how it relates to the modern world. I love listening to the practical advice and beauty stories and the interesting way Kay tells these. If you don’t follow her already on Instagram, or subscribe to her newsletter, I would highly recommend it. She created the most beautiful wax seals. Thank you Kay!!
I absolutely love this podcast! I consistently learn something about letter writing or it’s history OR am inspired to be more thoughtful with my own correspondence. Kay gives so many levels of insight and these episodes beg to be listened to again and again in order to soak up all the goodness!
