解放軍海軍的訓練艦「戚繼光艦」和兩棲船塢登陸艦「沂蒙山艦」，10月1日及2日將會停靠在駐港部隊昂船洲軍港，並開放給市民參觀。 內地軍事專家宋忠平說，今次兩艘軍艦與7月來港的山東艦，在功能及用途上不同，市民登艦後可以看到不同設備，有助香港市民進一步了解國家的軍事力量，加強愛國教育。 記者林漢山報道。

超強颱風樺加沙襲港期間，多區建築物受破壞，包括將軍澳多間臨海餐廳、南區酒店等的玻璃大門遭受巨浪沖擊。土木工程處處長黃志斌等昨日亦到岸邊視察，了解設施損毀情況等。 將軍澳一間臨海餐廳受巨浪破壞，負責人估計，損失400至500萬元，要停業約一個月，感到痛心。有測量師說，如果再遇巨浪來襲，可考慮在玻璃門前，加裝較高的木板或鐵板阻擋洪水。 有工程師建議，政府研究在部分沿海範圍加設防波堤，減低風暴潮造成的破壞。 記者崔蔚恩報道。
超強颱風樺加沙為本港多處帶來颶風，越堤浪及風暴潮亦導致沿岸及低窪地區出現水浸。天文台一度發出十號颶風信號10小時40分鐘，是有紀錄以來歷時第二長的十號信號。 政府表示，截至昨晚8時，有101名市民在風暴期間受傷，當局合共接獲1224宗塌樹報告、22宗水浸個案及4宗山泥傾瀉報告。政府評估風暴過後，認為各主要道路及交通恢復通行，市面基本復常，本港機場今早逐步回復運作，預料全日會有過千航班升降。 天文台說，樺加沙在香港以南掠過時採取了略為偏西路徑，沒有出現最壞情況，否則破壞程度可能更嚴重。 記者陳樂.... more
