  • British presenter please

Content before the American presenter Asma joined was top notch. There are excellent British presenters and analysts in American politics — please hire a British presenter, not the gal who is chief something. She is boring, and as an American / local, has no deep understanding of the U.S. politics.

5 star for Tristan. 1/2 star for Asma — nice lady but she does not understand anything outside of the American point of view — and this is Global. Please remove Asma — she does not understand global a... more

  • Nate Swanson

It’s excellent to hear thoughtful reflections from a person who worked and studied hard on our rapport with Iran over many years. I think I have a more developed concept of what the JCPOA was and how we got there. It has been gravely troubling to me that so many experienced, expert voices in government overall, but in statecraft acutely, have been sidelined and silenced. I hope we will one day come back to a government that values the knowledge and experience of people like Nate. For instance, d... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Venezuela model for regime change
Q: What is the actual status of Delcy Rodríguez and her role in governing Venezuela right now?
She has been sworn in as interim president and appears to be exercising governing power, though there is no clear timetable for elections or formal democratic processes; her stance seems to balance loyalty to Maduro with overt alignment to US interests.
Are we heading for World War Three?
Q: Do you think we are headed towards World War III right now?
The guest argues that while the current tensions are serious and regional, there are multiple factors and potential de-escalation pathways that make an all-out global war not inevitable, emphasizing diplomacy, deterrence, and the risks of miscalculation.
Trump's Iran options
Q: What would off-ramps look like if Trump wants to wind down the conflict?
Experts discuss options like forcing Iran into negotiations, limited naval actions, or occupying strategic sites, but warn these moves carry high risks, including further escalation and potential land engagements with the possibility of dragging in regional powers or leading to a prolonged standoff.
Trump's Iran options
Q: Do you think Donald Trump has betrayed America first?
The guests suggest that many supporters feel misled by the war, with fractures forming in Trump's coalition as the conflict drags on, while others still back him; the overall tone is that the decision to engage in Iran has caused political costs for Trump and a sense of betrayal among some of his base.
Was the air strike on an Iranian school a war crime?
Q: What is the process the US military uses to decide if a target is safe to hit?
The process varies by context and can involve rules of engagement, military lawyers (JAG), and a human in the loop to assess information before a target is struck.
