当我们迫切地希望，祷告能帮到我的实际需要时，我们的思绪常常会被引到“我该如何祷告”、“怎样让祷告更有效”、“怎样的祷告可以帮助到我”？这时我们很容易把祷告当作是一种“工具”，是一种“技能”，可以以此让神更明白自己。就像学钓鱼、学滑雪一样，是有“技巧”可以学习的。在这样的状态下，我们会过于关注祷告的结果，会失去祷告的意义。因为并没有一种什么方法可以让祷告更“灵”。
我们都知道，我们被拣选、被拯救就是神要把我们从这个世界里分别出来，让我们成为君尊的祭司、圣洁的国民。对于本性属这世界的我们来说，时常很难摆脱用我们自己的意念和方法去追求神。所以神要借耶稣基督道成肉身、死在十字架上、三天后复活来重新塑造我们的生命，以至让我们在思考问题、处理问题时，不再用世界的标准和方法，只单单仰赖神的心意。我们纪念耶稣基督的复活，就是纪念祂用复活的大能重生了我们，让我们从此不再属于这世界，而单单只属于祂。
曾经问一位非常敬虔的姊妹：“妳爱妳先生吗？”她毫不犹豫的说：“不爱”。“为什么那”？“因为爱是恒久忍耐，哪里做得到啊”。姊妹说的一点都不错，哪个人能做到恒久忍耐。
如果你每天看着新闻过日子、跟着媒体的导向思维，结果不是让你“疯了”、就是让你“死了”。同样，如果你说：我既不跟着大潮走、也不被什么思想左右，我只想过好每天的“小日子”，只怕您也想的太简单了。身为这世上的一份子，人怎么可能不被这世界影响、不在意自己的归属。更何况，人活着应当对社会、对自我有诸多的责任和义务。
我们都知道，祷告就是一种祈求。但向上苍的祈求，不只是基督徒在做的事，世上所有的人都会祈求，都会向上苍表达自己的愿望，就像是fingers crossed一样。
