  • Great podcasts

Gemma possesses great communication skill that unfortunately is frustratingly rare these days. Gemma listens and does not interrupt her guests which makes her podcast easy to listen to. Great content and guests too.

  • One episode was enough !!

Why would you ask a noted expert on liquid fixed interest, who has a pathological hate for anything illiquid, his opinion on an illiquid asset class about which his level of knowledge is relatively limited, especially one which competes with his own area of specialisation & therefore makes anything said conflicted ? Makes no sense to me & yet the resulting, well rehearsed, diatribe took a good 10 minutes of the show & simply reinforced an ill-informed view of private debt.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Oil, gold, lithium and more – materials and energy in focus
Q: How does gold fit into a long-term portfolio strategy in this environment?
Gold remains a key hedge and store of value, supported by central bank buying and currency devaluation, and it can diversify a portfolio due to its low correlation with equities and bonds, even as short-term profits are taken during pullbacks.
Oil – everything you need to know and more
Q: What's your take on the market response? Does that feel a touch optimistic at this point?
Vandana explains that while prices have fallen somewhat on optimism about a potential resolution, the disconnect between futures and physical markets remains large, and the market's path to normalization is uncertain; the response should be viewed with caution.
Gold, AUD and the dollar debasement trade – is the era of USD dominance really over?
Q: Where do you see all of this impacting the Aussie?
The Aussie dollar has been on a tear lately, showing strength against the US dollar and other major currencies, supported by shifts in interest rate expectations and a positive global economic outlook.
Ask me anything with Money Money Money
Q: Is it sufficient to simply have one Vanguard International Shares Managed Fund and Vanguard Australian Shares Fund?
While those funds provide some exposure, further diversification into other assets is often needed for a balanced portfolio.
Ask me anything with Money Money Money
Q: What's your thoughts on listed private credit fund ETFs to generate income during retirement?
Private credit can be a viable option, but you must consider your overall asset allocation and manage risks appropriately.
