  • Love it!

Thanks Glen for this podcast series, I’m really hooked on the infotainment and always waiting for the next podcast across all the channels… M3, Retire Right and This is Property. I am almost 40 and now truly being educated about money and finding confidence to invest in wealth building, and am also now keen to pass it on to others. The simple things like being a spender and setting up systems - it is really the simple things. I do love listening to all the case studies to bring it to life and I... more

  • No BS - so refreshing!

I listen to a lot of podcasts, including a lot of finance/investing podcasts. This one is unique in a fairly saturated market. No BS, no sugar coating, no pandering - just practical, down-to-earth tips and guidance. I find value in every episode, but particularly the WWGD episodes. I am a recent subscriber, so have a huge back-catalogue of episodes to work my way through. I’m 56 and although I’m making up for lost time and missed opportunities as best I can, I wish I had discovered this content ... more

  • Listen to this

Once upon a time my financial strategy was procrastinate and ignore the elephant in the room and hope good fortune comes my way. I never thought of growing wealth working in health. Due to COVID saving opportunities/jobs and this podcast I’ve set up structure and strategy and taken back knowledge and control, changing my mindset to be more positive - which is important whatever income and fortune/misfortune may bring.

922b wwgd: getting cashed up in Melbourne before a big country move
Q: As at today, what do you reckon the future lifestyle property would be worth, and how regional is it?
They estimate around 575k for a half-acre regional property with three bedrooms and sheds, about six hours from their current Melbourne location, six hours away, planned for eight years in the future to potentially live in.
922b wwgd: getting cashed up in Melbourne before a big country move
Q: Is that a fair statement about estate planning and protection, given you've prioritized debts and investments?
Yes, it's essential to have wills and power of attorney in place for protection and to avoid complications if something happens; it's about basic housekeeping to secure assets and decision-making.
922 mortgage freedom, property spruikers, neighbour fence disputes + more
Q: Question about consolidating trading platforms. I dumped a bunch of money into a few ETFs using self-wealth between 2021 and 2023. Trading fees were $9.50 a trade. As of last year I started using CMC with $0 trades up to $1,000 a day. Does anyone recommend a different platform or benefit to moving everything to one app?
The hosts suggest focusing on what you buy and the long-term cost bases, rather than platform differences; consider consolidation for easier tracking, but prioritize consolidated reporting (e.g., Sharesight) and keep costs in mind as broker fees or interest on cash balances can add up.
921b wwgd: should we upgrade the car with our car allowances?
Q: Should we upgrade the car now, given our current income and car allowance situation?
Glen guides them to focus on foundations first and to run a numbers-based check using a spending plan, considering the after-tax income and how much of the car payment they can comfortably service, with a likely recommendation to delay upgrading until the foundations are stronger or until after a detailed financial crunch shows a clear, affordable path.
your tax questions answered: what to do before 30 June
Q: What documents should you tell your accountant about shares and DRP (dividend reinvestment plans)?
Keep comprehensive records of buys, sells, DRP events, brokerage, and use registries or brokers to obtain price histories; summarized data can be uploaded to the tax firm's portal to reduce the need for every receipt.
