You Must Remember This is a storytelling podcast exploring the secret and/or forgotten histories of Hollywood’s first century. It’s the brainchild and passion project of Karina Longworth (founder of Cinematical.com, former film critic for LA Weekly), who writes, narrates, records and edits each episode. It is a heavily-researched work of creative nonfiction: navigating through conflicting reports, mythology, and institutionalized spin, Karina tries to sort out what really happened behind the films, stars and scandals of the 20th century.

I came to listen to the Manson series and happily stayed for all the rest. Karina provides a rich historical context for every element of the stories she shares, which in effect immerses the listener in times long gone and more recently passed. Absolutely love her voice, her style, her commentary and analysis, as well as her commitment to researching every aspect of what she shares. The Polly Platt series was a masterpiece. Easily the best podcast by a country mile.
This is simply one of the smartest, most well researched, compelling podcasts ever. You don’t even have to be a movie fan to enjoy it. It’s just endlessly fascinating and insightful.

If you’re a woke millennial, and you want to trash everything from the past so you can virtual signal to other woke millennials about why everything from the past that isn’t woke is misogynistic, racist, and white male dominant, then this podcast is for you!!!! Everyone else, skip it because this is THE WORST podcast I’ve ever heard. Babe, you don’t know what you’re taking about since you weren’t even born. Leave the podcasting about the 80’s to the responsible adults. Ugh.
