You Are Error is Aftermath’s podcast about common misconceptions in and around video games. Each episode interviews a different guest about something that either games or the people who play them frequently get wrong: It could be something mechanical, like climbing. It could be something born of narrative and world building, like Cyberpunk 2077’s obsession with artificial limbs and exoskeletons, a... more

  • Great idea, but needs more intentional structure!

The premise of the show is great but the standard interview format focuses the conversations more on general grievances than specific case studies that would both illustrate the episode topic and allow for concise critique. Right now the show is too bogged down in the guests’ negative views on games, and isn’t leading each interview toward solutions beyond “be better, games.” I’m here because I like games, so the ideal version of this show gives critique while also casting specific vision for a ... more

  • After it’s inaugural episode, this is a promising show!

While I think that the format of the show could benefit from more prepared anecdotes specifically related to games (for example, in if books could kill, which is cited as an inspiration, there is often a work that serves as the basis for critique with specific passages pulled and analyzed), i did really love the first episode and thought rami had an urgently important viewpoint to share. looking forward to more and to your future success!

Twitch (With Nathan Grayson)
Q: What spurred the big mainstream moment for Twitch?
The mainstream moment for Twitch coincided with Fortnite's rise and the viral success of Ninja streaming with celebrities like Drake.
Twitch (With Nathan Grayson)
Q: How does Twitch monetize?
Twitch monetizes primarily through ads and takes a percentage of subscriptions from creators' earnings, usually around 50-50.
Twitch (With Nathan Grayson)
Q: What is the kind of new thing for Twitch streamers?
Twitch streamers are looking to diversify their platforms, with many moving between Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok to maximize audience engagement and revenue options.
Arabic (With Rami Ismail)
Q: How have game developers reacted to your criticism of Arabic representation?
Overall, the industry took it poorly; they do most times when they get called out for anything. But I also think that there are many thoughtful, kind-hearted, open-minded people who care about games and people.
Arabic (With Rami Ismail)
Q: When did you first notice the trend of misrepresentation in games?
I noticed that much earlier. Obviously, if you speak Arabic, you know the culture. I remember watching a movie where there's a Muslim character, and it looks nothing like prayer, just somebody randomly doing things with their hands.
