  • Brilliant & A Must

Dr Denanyoh is a brilliant, eloquent & passionate orator; who is paying it forward. Many have a misconception that, companies and/or law firms are successful because of the top tier. Mostly true, but not totally. It's ALL those employees who are daily in the weeds, woods, delegating, keeping order, managing and putting our daily fires; that keeps the office functioning at a level of greatness. We're talking about Contract Specialists, Paralegals, Office Managers, Clerks, Secretaries, the Mailroo... more

  • This is a superb podcast! Kyla is a warm and friendly host, yet at the same time a very professional interviewer. Lawyers will love this podcast. But non-lawyers ("civilians") will love it too! A great change of pace in a world (and podcast universe) that is so focused on snark and negativity.

Soft Skills Every Lawyer Needs with David Sclar
Q: What would you tell young lawyers about taking risks and seeking mentorship?
Take small risks, seek mentorship, and look for environments where the partner needs a reliable right-hand person; those steps can lead to meaningful career pivots and leadership roles.
Soft Skills Every Lawyer Needs with David Sclar
Q: What distinguishes a technology lawyer from other practice areas, and how do soft skills play into that?
Technology lawyers should be embedded with product teams, understand the tech, and communicate clearly to balance speed with sound legal advice; the book helps codify those behaviors into actionable tips.
Soft Skills Every Lawyer Needs with David Sclar
Q: Why did you decide to go to law school and how did that shape your career path?
I went to law school to solve problems and be a peacemaker, not to be an appellate clerk; that realization guided me toward health care law and opportunities to work with startups.
When Advocacy Becomes the Career with Mary Ellen O'Connor
Q: What would you say to a law student or young lawyer about what they can do with their degree?
Don't limit yourself or let obstacles deter you; focus on the path to your end goal, develop transferable skills, and be willing to pursue opportunities that align with your strengths and values, even if the day-to-day is challenging.
How Solo Practice Gives Lawyers More Freedom
Q: How did your path lead you to solo practice, and what advice would you give to someone considering private practice?
I fell into it by starting with court appointments and slowly building a practice around what fit me; the key is to value flexibility, build a small support team, and use the law office management mindset learned in school to plan costs and processes. If autonomy and a dynamic schedule appeal to someone, solo practice can be rewarding.
