  • My inner child is happy

Tracy and Rowan bring such a warm and inviting way for the listener to be a part of the fantasy that they are speaking about. Being a former child that was obsessed with mythology and fantasy, the weight of the world hasn’t allowed me to pursue this more into adulthood. However, this shows me that it is possible to scratch that itch, no matter the age. I feel like I’m with my charismatic friends who are telling me a lovely story when I listen.

  • All time favorite

This is my very favorite podcast. It was the saddest of days when I reached the last episode and could no longer binge listen. I have a bachelors in religion and I have always loved folk tales and frequently read some of the most old and bizarre tales. Thus it is rare that I come across a folk tale I am unaware of, however, Tracey and Rowan have, much to my surprise and delight, introduced me to multiple tales I have had yet to come across. I am impressed with the level of research, mindfulness... more

  • Sugar and Aqua Tofana

I’m writing this review from 32,000 feet in the air for two reasons. One: there is no place within my imagination where I would not listen to this podcast. Two: I waited to write this until I had consumed a dozen or so episodes just to ensure my opinion was informed. After spending many hours and two cross country flights listening, I can now say beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is one of my favorite podcasts and a must for anyone with a curious mind and a love of stories.

  • This podcast made me love to learn again

I used to be a really curious kid before I entered a rigorous school that made me hate going to class. I thought that I was going to feel this way for the rest of my education, but little did I know, a podcast that came up on my Instagram was going to change my life. Hall and Harris research and discuss myths, legends, art, and history in such a nuanced and compelling way, that I was instantly hooked. Now every time I have a school project or reading, I ask myself, “What would Willing and Fable ... more

  • Tracey & Rowan draw you in and make you feel like you’re apart of a kind nerdy family.

This podcast is infinitely fascinating, comforting , and inspiring. Tracy and Rowan’s stories and banter have both brought me to tears and left me breathless with laughter. This podcast has inspired me to be more confident and start revisiting my own creative writing inspired by and retelling mythology and folklore. I cannot stress how amazing and intelligent these two are as well as how sensitively they approach darker topics and other cultures. All this to say thank you Rowan and Tracey. Keep ... more

  • Consuming Storytelling

Rowan and Tracy have one of the most wholesome relationships, and being able to witness their interactions helps me feel better when the world makes me feel like I’m wasting away with consumption.

I would listen all day to their well researched dives into stories from around the world, yet they somehow even outdo themselves by crafting original tales that truly belong side by side with the legends of old.

They’re careful about tales from groups they are not a part of and do the work to be resp... more

  • Great for lovers of mythology and history

Two smart funny friends do their research on aspects of mythology and history, stories well-known and lesser-known, and share them alongside original stories that tie into the subject. Very funny, and complete and sensitive handlings of all topics, and very good production quality (no mics or messy levels here).

  • My something good? This podcast!

I'm only about 1/3 of the way through Willing and Fable's long list of episodes, but each has been more enjoyable than the last. The stories are always fun and put a unique twist or perspective on an old tale. I come out of each episode having learned some new piece of history or interesting fact that I rush off to share with someone else. On top of that, Tracey and Rowan are a delight to listen to as they each have unique takes on the information and their upbeat personalities mesh well to make... more
