  • Great Show About Ideas

At first glance, I wouldn't think a public radio show about philosophical ideas would make it. I say this and I'm a philosopher by trade. What is indigenous philosophy?
Q: Did you find academic philosophy welcoming to your project of Indigenizing philosophy?
I faced negative reception but was supported by many mentors during my journey.

Q: Why do we need a category called Indigenous philosophy?
Because it reflects different experiences and perspectives that challenge the universality often assumed in Western philosophical practice.
The Argument for Peace and Non-Violence
Q: Do you think that the voices for peace have to be those outside of power, outside of government?
Kathy believes that grassroots movements are crucial for peace-making, often arising in opposition to entrenched power, but acknowledges that change can come from within power structures as well.
The Argument for Peace and Non-Violence
Q: Do you think that the sort of capitalist, military, industrial argument for war has replaced the old fashioned idea that human nature is prone to war?
Kathy suggests that the current systems incentivize war for profit, overshadowing the old belief that human nature itself drives people to conflict.
The Argument for Peace and Non-Violence
Q: Why do you think that peace is so often dismissed and maligned?
Kathy argues that a heavy investment in war and a cycle of militarism make changing minds about peace a significant challenge, as war is heavily marketed and tied to corporate profits.
