  • Good, but…

I like the content and length of this podcast. I’m having a difficult time understanding the host unfortunately. So I had to stop listening as I spent most of my time rewinding to try and understand what she was saying.

Talking Points

Why Locked-Room Mysteries Still Work with Molly Harper | Millennial Murder Mysteries
Q: Talk to us about your writing journey.
Molly explains how she moved from journalism to fiction, leveraging publisher support and a long collaboration with a key narrator; she emphasizes versatility across genres and the value of pursuing ideas that feel natural to her voice.
Cannes, Murder & Secrets: A Summer Thriller | We Will Never Tell by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau
Q: Can you share a bit about your research process for Cannes and how it influenced character development?
I spoke with attendees and people connected to the festival, observed the dynamics of big parties and the behind-the-scenes work, and used those insights to ground characters in authentic experiences. The contrast between red-carpet glamour and the less glamorous realities shaped who my characters are and what they do.
Cannes, Murder & Secrets: A Summer Thriller | We Will Never Tell by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau
Q: How did you shape the core mystery in We Will Never Tell, and what role did setting play?
The core mystery grew from a murder intertwined with a missing necklace at Cannes, with the setting providing glamour and high stakes. I wanted to explore the people behind the glamour—the staff, assistants, and others who keep the scene running—while maintaining suspense through a clear, moving plot and evolving motives.
Cannes, Murder & Secrets: A Summer Thriller | We Will Never Tell by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau
Q: Anne-Sophie, what inspired your transition from YA romance to adult thrillers and how did you approach finding your thriller voice?
I immersed myself in thrillers, studied their plot structures, and paid attention to what keeps a reader on the edge of their seat, such as starting with a mystery and crafting chapter openings that propel momentum. Personal reading taste and the desire for darker, twistier storytelling guided my voice and structure.
Messy Wedding Rom-Coms You’ll Love | Save the Date by Mallory Kass/Kass Morgan
Q: Where can listeners find you online?
Mallory explains she uses Kass Morgan Books on social media and is working on building a proper author website, sharing that she's navigating the new social media landscape.
