Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

3/2/26. John Choi - Indian Trail H.S. Choir Director
Q: Tell us about your day in Milwaukee and what it was like to perform on that stage after soundchecks and preparation.
We traveled up the night before for soundcheck, had organized logistics with families and volunteers, prepared in the morning, and navigated a busy schedule before the performance. The space was beautiful, and the anticipation built up before going on stage.
3/2/26. John Choi - Indian Trail H.S. Choir Director
Q: So, first of all, congratulations on earning such a great honor, you and the Chorale. What is involved in being invited to perform for an event like this particular chorale convention?
We had to submit three years of recordings, provide program details, and present a repertoire list for a 25-minute section, along with bios and a statement about our program and music. The process involves a blind audition judged by experienced choral directors.
3/3/26. Dr. Maggie Burk/ Ella Bergfeld- Carthage Choir
Q: Dr. Berg, tell us again about the Homecoming Concert—when and where is it, and is it open to the public?
The Homecoming Concert is Monday, March 9th at 7:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in downtown Kenosha, and it is a free concert with no tickets required.
3/3/26. Dr. Maggie Burk/ Ella Bergfeld- Carthage Choir
Q: Dr. Berg, what is the program named this year and what does the repertoire look like for The Soul's Journey?
The program is titled The Soul's Journey, organized into four sets that explore themes of calling, traversing darkness, and moving toward renewal, featuring a mix of sacred and contemporary works and a significant piece with water glasses and chimes for texture.
3/3/26. Dr. Maggie Burk/ Ella Bergfeld- Carthage Choir
Q: Good to have both of you here. So first of all, Dr. Berg, remind our listeners where you are in your Carthage journey. How many years is this that you have been at the helm of our choral music program?
This is year four for me, a steady progression from stepping in gently to taking the helm after the previous director moved on, with the choir growing in both repertoire and leadership.
