  • Great insight for new VB dads

Two things I wished I’d known earlier… (1) get my daughter into travel VB sooner (now knowing the local academy coaches are not the better coaches within a club), and (2) listen to VB Dads at the very start (I have learned a lot about club VB from both of them and their guests). This podcast may discuss the playing in college track more than I care for, but given their daughters are on that track or playing in college it’s very understandable. It is also interesting given NIL and the transfer po... more

  • Cypress Dad

Dame and Spurg do an excellent job of sharing their own unique perspectives gained from being supportive fathers in today’s competitive landscape of junior volleyball. They take the time to educate their audience through a range of relevant topics while at the same time truthfully address the “real” issues facing parents daily. I commend both of you! Keep doing it!

  • Podcast Perfection

Spurg & Dame bring interesting perspectives, as well as accomplished guests, to provide a template to navigate the world of prep volleyball in a very relatable and entertaining way. Love the show and look forward to each and every episode. I always leave learning something new and burning a few hundred calories from all of the laughter in the process. Keep Pushing Fellas!

Volleyball Dads Setts and Hitts! Opening weekend
Q: Should a committed high school player risk injury and play their senior year in both high school and club volleyball?
They should weigh reps and development against risk, focusing on proper conditioning, weight training, and nutrition; injuries can happen, but players can recover and come back stronger, so the decision is highly individual and should be driven by the athlete's readiness and support system.
Volleyball Dads - Working on Our Mental Wellness
Q: How can parents encourage kids to seek therapy without shame or stigma?
Lead by example by modeling therapy as a healthy, preventive tool rather than a crisis measure; explain goals, normalize short-term commitment, and leverage workplace EAP benefits to start.
Volleyball Dads - Working on Our Mental Wellness
Q: What are you seeing out there that is impacting a lot of young players today that you may have not seen in the past?
Social media and a culture of constant comparison create added pressure; the episode discusses how algorithms and feedback loops amplify stress and how families can teach kids to interpret online input more critically.
