The discussion today is around the idea of gratitude and contentment. How can families cultivate gratitude when the whole world around us seems to be driven by consumerism? How can we be more content with the possessions we have?
We are following up on the conversation from last time about cultivating virtue in ourselves and talking about how to cultivate virtue in our homes. Be sure to check out part 1 first.
What began as a question about cultivating virtue in our family, turned into "how do we cultivate virtue in ourselves first?" Without the virtue in our own life, how are we able to show it to those around us?
How do we balance nobility with humility in our children and how do we apply that to our own lives?
What is the role of conscience in virtue? Should our "conscience be our guide" or should we be doing something different?
What does perseverance in the family look like and how do we cultivate it? You may be surprised to hear this, but it starts with the parents. To be better at persevering, one must also have something to persevere in.
How do we deal with difficult social issues? How do you determine which side is the "right side"?
In this episode, we are diving into some of the reasons why kids leave the faith and how to address some of those reasons. We also talk about some of the ways to "test the soil" in, not only our children's lives, but also our own.
