「矢乃波波木（やのははき）神」は、民間信仰では「箒神」として知られる神様です。
箒神は人間の生と死、とくに出産に深く関係する神様と言われています。
「掃く」の名詞形はハハキで、その音は「母木」に通じることから生命を産む木と考えられ、
お産のときに妊婦と赤ん坊を守護する神様とされたとのこと（※理由は諸説あります）。
